So, you want to learn how to shoot?

Shooting is easy, right? All you have to do is pull the trigger, right? While the answer to those two questions is the same, it's just not that simple. Yes, shooting is pretty easy and yes, all you really need to do is pull the trigger in order to make the gun go BANG! However, if you want to be good at it, learning the proper techniques of shooting introduces a lot of discipline and most of all, hand/eye coordination.

The first question I ask when someone says they want to learn to shoot is, "Why do you want to learn to shoot"? The answers I get vary and here is a list of some of them.

  • - Protect themselves and their family
  • - To carry a concealed firearm
  • - Second Amendment right
  • - For work, (military, police, security)
  • - Hunting
  • - Competition
  • - Target shooting
  • - Quality time spent with the family
  • - Self-discipline
  • - Confidence builder
  • - Best reason ever - IT'S FUN!!

Whatever reason you have, learning to shoot takes time and discipline. Some people learn faster than others but don't worry, if you dedicate yourself and your time, you could go on to be an Olympic Champion! How far you want to advance in shooting is up to you.
